Art with Heart Team Blog Hop - Autumn Winter Mini Delights :o)

Has another month gone by already ... I am getting older faster than I want too :o)  Well its time again for another Art with Heart team blog hop - Autumn Winter Mini inspiration is our theme this month. Our team, lead by Claire Daly, has over 90 members; we enjoy the added benefit of an extremely active forum - here is just the work of a few of us.

You may have just come from the very talented Kimmy Meiklejohn, but if you are starting here, don’t worry … you can make the complete journey just by following the links at the end of each post. There are 14 stops along the way and we hope you will visit each one to see the wonderful creations we have to show you!

When I first saw the new mini I fell in love with this set ... Cottage Garden - there is even some new Designer Series Paper to match - called Cottage Wall.

IMG_4750I've used the new Rich Razzleberry cardstock (a new In Colour) and a Versamark pad to create the background print, then added Orchard Opulence and Old Olive to complete the colour combination.

IMG_4751
I love the spiral punch from the Ideas Book and Catalogue and have used it here to create a little extra detail - and backed it with some Old Olive ribbon ...

IMG_4748
And of course once I got started ... I couldn't stop at one so here is another using the other side of that yummy stripy Cottage Wall paper ... isn't it brilliant that the flowers match the stamp set. And just how cute is that new butterfly?

Now as usual, if you visit and comment on each blog in the hop and then email ME, you'll be in the draw for some blog candy - this monthly kindly donated by Kathryn Mangelsdorf.  Now unlike me, Kathryn is one organised chickerdee and has posted a picture of the candy for us to drool over, no I mean show ... to you all ..

Candy photo It's very  cute .... yes there are die cuts there .... so yes this does mean that the Big Shot has arrived - whooo hooo!  There is a deadline of 72 hours to leave your comments (that's 6.00am AEST 3 April) and only non SU demos are eligible to win - although we'd love all visitors to leave some comments please - thanks girls.

Right onward and upward you go ... blog hop and comment and then email me to let me know ... hope you have fun.  Off you go to our lovely and very creative team leader Claire Daly who has a lovely creation to share.

Olivia's Easter Baskets

IMG_4699
Olivia has been making Easter baskets ... aren't they cute!  The little bunny is made from punches and the boxes are an origami masterpiece - goodness knows how she makes them but if you want to know leave me a comment and I'll get a template sorted out :o)

IMG_4701
Here's a close up of the handle - the eyelet was set using the Crop-o-Dile.  Now you may be wondering who these are for ... well they are a surprise for two lovely people who help us as a family, but .... I have a confession to make ... well I don't cos I didn't commit the crime ... but the three chocolate lovers in our house have eaten the contents already ... so I'm off to refill them before the weekend ... shush no one will ever know :o)

Back tomorrow with a scrapbooking layout over at the Stampamemory site.

Don't forget the Summer Mini and Sale-a-Bration end this Wednesday ... call me if you need anything or if you want to take up the newsletter offer :o)

Become A Demonstrator

Sign up to become a demonstrator!

DBWS_Main-ad_Hostess_main_SP

Join NOW (before 30 May) and choose $296 of product and pay just $169

- that's over 40% discount!

Join Team Inky for inspiration, friendship and much more.  Joining Stampin' Up! has been one of the best things I have ever done.  Joining Team Inky will give you access to several Demonstrator only online groups where you will find inspiration, friendship and much more.

So you must have questions right?

But I don't want to be a demonstrator Nikki, I don't want to do workshops, or demonstrations or classes - I just want the discount!

Well I have good news for you - you don't need to do anything you don't want to do and here's why.

Stampin’ Up! supports all demonstrators, no matter their goals or the level at which they choose to run their business. If you choose not to hold workshops, you can simply place your own orders and/or collect orders from family and friends to equal the $400 quarterly sales minimum.

What will I need to do to remain an active demonstrator?

You need to submit $400 in sales per quarter (this is exclusive of GST - so that's $440 in real terms). You receive an instant 20% discount, so the actual cost to you each quarter would be $352 plus shipping.

You earn all the usual hostess benefits and specials that are offered from time to time.  So that's another $50 of product free when you place a qualifying order - yes that's right demonstrators are treated like hostesses when we place orders.

How can I make money as a demonstrator?

You can earn money in three ways: instant income (20% of each order), monthly volume rebates (4–15% of total sales), and monthly downline override commissions (2–6.5% of your recruits’ sales).

Do I have to recruit other demonstrators?

No. Like I noted before you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.  If you were to recruit demonstrators, you would be paid override commissions on your downline’s sales, but this is a perk, not a requirement.

Where will I get project ideas for my workshops? What kind of training can I expect?

Stampin’ Up! provides dozens of training resources filled with project ideas and tips to help you run every aspect of your business, including a bi-monthly publication called Impressions®, a demonstrator-only website, hundreds of samples, annual and seasonal catalogues, a training DVD, the Demonstrator Manual and a Product Guide.

You will also receive an invitation to become a member of a couple of closed Facebook groups – where you’ll find lots of support and ideas from other demonstrators in our team.

I don't live in Victoria, can I still sign up with you Nikki?

Yes of course you can, whilst I do hold regular monthly team events, for interstate demonstrators (or demonstrators who don't want to come to the monthly meetings) I send kits and samples so you can still be inspired and take part.  And of course, I am available to chat on the phone or by email to help or answer any questions.

What if I decide that I don’t like it once I’ve started? Will I be penalised if I quit?

You may choose to stop at anytime, and you will not be penalised. You simply stop placing orders.

So what are the benefits?

  • Discounted Products

  • Earn money from doing something you love - my workshops and classes aren't work - they are fun!

  • Access to ideas and resources only available to current demonstrators - through forums such as Stampin Connection and ESAD

  • Help and support from me if you want to run a business

  • Monthly newsletter from Stampin Up - delivered to your mailbox - full of ideas

  • Access to the SU demo website with the opportunity to place orders and track your sales and commissions

  • Online support if you wish to set up a blog

  • The chance to earn free stamp sets in the first 6 months - receive news of offers and pre-released information and an opportunity to buy before anyone else.

And one last question that always makes me blush but I get asked all the time ….. can I still come to your classes Nikki if I am a demonstrator?

Of course you can, I don’t want to lose any of my class ladies – our Thursday nights are so much fun.

So what are you waiting for?  Do you have a wish list as long as your arm and want the discount?

Counting Down The Days ...

It's that time of year ago where we have to say goodbye to some old favourites before a new mini catalogue starts ... and I thought I'd post you a few reminders of what is about to disappear ... so today's reminder is all about butterflies!

IMG_4739
First up is my favourite set Butterfly Prints (117711 $25.95) and the matching punch (116629 $30.95) ... I did a workshop for a lovely group of ladies on Sunday (hi girls) and we made this lovely card (the inspiration for which came from one of my downlines Kimmy Meicklejohn - you should go and check out her site she is one clever lady) ...

IMG_4730
Rose Red and So Saffron with plenty of sparkles and two beautiful butterflies ... its a sure winner.  The butterflies are just so easy to make when there is a punch to save the cutting out.

IMG_4732
And a close up of those lovely butterflies - aren't they cute?

The sentiment is from the Whimsical Words Sale-a-Bration set which will also be gone by the end of the month ... so if you are thinking you have to have these butterflies and matching punch give me a call - if your order is over $100 you can choose a free Sale-a-Bration set too.

And here's another one I made earlier ...

IMG_4558You have until next Wednesday before 6pm to call me .... 0428 254 952 or email me at nikki@inkyart.com.au.

Back tomorrow with another reminder.

Just Add Ink Challenge #9

This week'c challenge for Just Add Ink is a sketch and I thought I'd use it for a new scrapbooking page.  I have been wanting to use the new Tall Tales Designer Series for a while now ... and as there is only a few days left of the Summer Mini I thought I had better hurry up and open it!

IMG_4712
What do you think?  I love elephants and queued for a while to be able to feed them at Australia Zoo in January of this year .... I really love the Earth tones of Old Olive and Chocolate Chip, just perfect for nature photos.

IMG_4716
This is a double page layout as I wanted to use a few of the photos I had taken (I take heaps and heaps, so choosing just some is a very difficult task ;o))  .... here's page two.

IMG_4719
I've used some Twill Tape and Short Order Alphabet to create a title.  If you haven't noticed the Twill Tape it's on page 150 of the IB&C and costs $11.50 for 8.2 metres - absolute bargain I think, I love to stamp on it - it looks really effective.

IMG_4720
I've included some handwritten journalling and used Crystal Glaze for the words I wanted to stand out from the rest.  I've also used the standard brads from the Spring Mini which are still available for you to purchase.

IMG_4722
I then cut out one of the elephants and (and a crocodile of course) and added it as an embellishment -Crystal Glaze features here too ....

IMG_4723Don't forget to date your events ... in years to come I'll never remember it was this year's holiday!

So if you love the paper or want to give the Twill Tape a whirl contact your demonstrator - and if you don't have one you can contact me!

Back in a day or so with more from the Summer Mini - remember you don't have long and it will be gone forever.

Spotlighting a Mother's Day Card

Remember my post about Mother's Day cards for the Troops (pop over here if you missed it) ... well I've been busy making a few.  Here is one that I have made that I combined with another challenge ... the centrepiece is an Artist Trading Card I have entered into a swap with the Art With Heart Team.

IMG_4691 And here are the Trading Cards ready to be posted to the organiser Gayatri ...

IMG_4686The technique used is Spotlighting ... such a simple and effective technique ... instructions can be found here if you'd like to give it a go.  I've used Pixie Pink with Basic Black and Whisper White - great colours together don't you think?

The stamp is from Echoes of Kindness (free hostess benefit set) and the sentiment is from the Saleabration set Whimsical Words .... there's only a couple of weeks left to place a qualifying order to get this FREE set ... check out the brochure here and call me if you want to place an order.

Back in a couple of days with more creations ... and don't forget if you can make a card or two - someone somewhere serving the country would really appreciate it :o)

SAM Challenge # 6 - What Are You Grateful For?

IMG_4678 When I saw the title of this challenge my mind starting buzzing with all the photos that I could - did I use the photos of all the lovely flowers that I am trying very hard to grow, or the beautiful sunsets, or my family or the house ... eventually I decided that I would use this photo of the children sitting on Sapphire Beach, which is near Coffs Harbour.

IMG_4682 I picked the closest colours I had to 'extend' the colours of the water out beyond the photo.  I've torn the edges of the cardstock to create the texture and shades.

IMG_4681 I've stamped the surfboards and sign from the Just Surfing set as a simple embellishment - and included the waves on a layer of Kraft.

IMG_4683 And I've used more torn layers of cardstock to represent the sand, some twine and some Stazon White Refill ink with a sponge to just 'swish' on some colour to make the Night Of Navy cardstock look a little sand washed.

The journalling was printed directly onto the Kraft cardstock ... it reads ...

I am grateful for ....

... a cool down at Sapphire Beach in New South Wales.  Just a simple dip in the ocean (well not too far out in case of sharks!) but far enough to have fun and bask in the beautiful clear ocean waters that surround Australia - if you could see the colour of the sea where I grew up you'd really appreciate the blueness and sparkle - whether it is Safety Beach with the Petries, the Indian Ocean in Perth or the waters off Raymond Island, it glistens with a blueness that needs to be seen to be believed!

I've used the following items:

Cardstock:  Night of Navy, Kraft, Creamy Caramel, Pacific Point, Brilliant Blue, Handsome Hunter and Whisper White
Ink: Stazon white refill, Night of Navy and Creamy Caramel
Stamp Set: Just Surfing
Accessories: Twine
Tools: Sponges, Marker for journalling the date

I hope this inspires you to grab a photo or two of something you are grateful for ... and hop on over the the Stampamemory Site and enter this fortnight's challenge - there are prizes!

Happy Mother's Day to Our Mums!

Okay for my Australian and American friends you can breath ... it's okay ... it's Mother's Day in the UK this weekend!

And to celebrate here is another Sweet Treat creation.

IMG_4558Now I have CASE'd this 'sort of' and I was hoping that by the time you read this I would have found the original owner .... but as usual I didn't write down the lady's name - if you know who you are can you me know.

I thought the idea of a butterfly underneath a magnifying glass was so brilliant I had to make one myself ... hence that call to Sue Madex to ask her to stamp the handles from the Sweet Something stamp set.

IMG_4559The butterfly is from the Butterfly Prints set and I've used the matching punch - I can't believe that I will only be demoing this for another couple of weeks - I have a sneaky suspicion that it will be back in the new Ideas Book and Catalogue in September.

I've used Upsy Daisy and Pocket Silhouettes to create the flowers and Whimsical Words for the sentiment.

The ribbon technique at the bottom is so simple .... if you check this post over at the Stamp-a-Memory site you'll find my easy instructions - have a go ... it looks really effective.

Well that's it for the Sweet Treat creations for a little while - I hope you have enjoyed them.

Happy Mother's day to my Mum and and to my mother-in-law Pauline - we all hope you are having a lovely day.

Sweet Treat Flower Cups

When I saw this post on the lovely Mary Fish's blog,  I knew that I would have to CASE it ... it is just so cute.

IMG_4586Chocolate Chip with More Mustard and Whisper White, such a great combination.  I have a workshop this Saturday for a friend of mine and she requested a card using the Sweet Treat Cups and some little Bo-Peep lollies from Darryl Lea - so here is the version to match the cute little lollies ... I hope her workshop guests are going to like it.

IMG_4593The colours of this one are Regal Rose and Whisper White, the paper is from the Hostess Level 1 set and the sentiment from the Sale-a-Bration set Whimsical Words.

IMG_4587The flowers are so easy to make, just punch ten of the large and small oval punches and sponge the edges for depth.  Then clip the base of each petal with a circle punch so that they sit nicely around the end of the Sweet Treat Cup.

IMG_4589The little flower on the side of the sentiment is from the Boho Blossoms - again sponged to add depth and I've used the neutral brads for the centres.

If you'd like a workshop to make one of these lovely cards call me ... I have one date left during March if you want to qualify for a Sale-A-Bration bargain too and one date in April where you will get to be one of the first to view the new Autumn Mini.

Just Add Ink Challenge #7

Okay so I am little late off the mark joining in with the new Just Add Ink Challenge Site - I've been checking it for a few weeks now - have you visited the site yet?  There are some amazing ideas.  This week's challenge is a colour combinatio

JAI7ColourCombo
IMG_4584I've been playing with the Sweet Treat Cups and creating Easter cards - do you love the little bunny. I love punch art animals - and this bunny is just so easy - there are lots of examples of it around the net ... and in various different colour schemes too.

IMG_4582I've used the large and small ovals, the new 1 3/4" circle and the 1/2" circle and the crop-o-dile to make the little eyes and nose.  Did I mention that I don't often use these colours?  Well I don't own the Pink Passion stamp pad so I had to make do with the Regal Rose - but I think it looks okay.

IMG_4580With matching brads and designer series paper this card was so easy to make - and I've included a little slide out bit so that the recipient can eat the little eggs without needing to demolish the card.

Back in a couple of days with more Sweet Treat delights.
