Blog Hopping with a PageMap

Its Blog Hop day ..... yay!  We are using a Pagemap today from Becky Fleck.

Page Map blog hop sketch March 2012
Sometimes life doesn't quite go to plan does it and here I am today showing you a card for a lovely new teenager in our Petrie Sadler gang - Tess.  Tess is our youngest Petrie Sadler - so now they are all teenagers!  She was meant to receive this last night but Olivia has been sick all week so we never managed to get to her birthday party - I have a funny feeling though that Tess doesn't see my blog so I am sure it will be safe to show you without ruining the surprise.

IMG_1222Do you spy some new goodies?  Yes the pleated satin ribbon from the new mini coming in the next few days - it is so lovely.

I hope you enjoy your weekend - I'm off to share the love of Stampin' Up! tonight with a new bunch of ladies - looking foward to it.

Time now to hop along and visit the lovely Christine Blain.  Hope to see you again soon.

Love Nikki

Sale-a-Bration is Nearly Over

Only a couple more weeks before Sale-a-Bration comes to an end.  If you want to see what all the fuss is about have a look here.

IMG_1161Here's another card from the class a couple of weeks ago, have I told you I love the Everyday Enchantment papers yet?

Its been a lovely long weekend here in Melbourne and whilst it was three days at home for the Sadler Gang - it was a peaceful and restful one.  We went to see Melbourne Heart play on Saturday night with some friends, ate Souvlaki's and Cold Rock ice-cream (well the kids did, I stopped at the Souvlaki!), I caught up on some gardening and even managed to clip and wash the two dogs.  I had a visit from my best friend on Friday night and I had a lovely chat with my mum on Sunday;  the kids have just 'chilled' (read .... played xBox or worked and partied!). Even the laundry and housework are up to date.   I am really appreciating it's the simple things in life that make me happy and contented.

My husband is home tomorrow for 12 days - he's on a course here in Melbourne - it will be great to have him home again.  Then he goes back to Sydney for just a week and half as then its Easter and we are going away to Raymond Island - yay :)

Happy Labour day and keep tuned for more inspiration.

Christmas Decoration Ritual

IMG_1154

More Ritual scrapbooking - this time the tradition of the children buying their annual tree decoration.  The object of the exercise is to end up with a box of decorations that the children would then taken with them when they set up their own homes to start their trees with.

IMG_1155

The little pull out tag explains that these decorations were purchased in Sydney and Olivia's is a disco ball and Kieran's .... well he was rather grumpy the day we bought these decorations so he literally walked into the Myer Christmas Shop grabbed the  nearest decoration he could find and then walked out again!  Amazingly they matched!  And of course once he had stopped being grumpy he said he had wanted the star all along and therefore didn't see why he needed to look at every decoration in the shop when he had already made his decision!

IMG_1156The big question of course is .... will I let the kids take all these decorations with them when they leave home .... or indeed will I even let them leave home?  It makes me sad already to think that one day they won't be living with us anymore ... yes I know ... insane and sad!

Perhaps that's the topic for another page.

Happy scrapbooking!

Project Life Update

I've mentioned a couple of times that finally I have succumbed to the whole Project Life 'thing' but I haven't gotten around to sharing this with you.  Can I just say .... WOW WOW WOW!  This takes memory keeping to the next level - I love it - thanks Becky Higgins!

What else can you do on a very wet and very cold Saturday afternoon?  Update the Project Life album of course!

IMG_1177I really liked the new Cobalt design - there are a few colours to choose from.  On the advice of some friends who had already completed a year of Project Life I invested in two of these albums, a Core Kit and some page protectors.  The Core Kit contains all the little journalling cards and space fillers together with stickers.  I also use a date stamp which I bought years ago.

IMG_1178The first page is pretty easy - there is a placement ideas card that I followed - so far so good! (I need to add something to the white space on the top right I think!)

IMG_1179I plan to complete one page per week, but for those weeks which are super busy then I am just going to go with the flow and fill as many pages as it takes.  This first week in January was spent in Sydney with Paul and our friends - so lots and lots of photos and memory making happening at this time!

IMG_1180The cards are part of the Core Kit and are colour co-ordinated - with stickers too - not really a sticker girl but I am using a few here and there.  I am making an effort to record the every day stuff too - the little things that happen that we will forget before the year is out.

IMG_1181This is the week after Sydney that I spent de-cluttering - and yes I did really include a picture of my oven being cleaned - just so that when life gets urber busy .... I can look back and say 'hey I am a good housewife - see my oven was clean in January' LOL

IMG_1182By the time we got to the end of January I was back at work and recording the every day was slipping. But I still managed to complete some sort of a record!

IMG_1183And another week where things are a little bit out of order but still every day life that I wanted to record this year.  You'll see a little bit of scrap paper there with 'aussie flag' written on it - this is spot waiting for a photo - I have just come up with this plan :)

IMG_1185
And here's my most up to date page.  I found the date cards really useful and I've been working with all the different page protector layouts that I bought.  So my plan to keep ahead?

IMG_0488I've downloaded two Apps - Momento and Project 365.  Momento gives me somewhere to jot down things to remind myself when and why something happened .... and Project 365 is a photo a day app - with an SMS reminder to take a photo every single day.  Whilst I know I will never use all 365 photos it has worked well for me as the weeks just become a blur and it is hard to remember the mundane every day life we all lead.

I love both of these Apps because they are on my phone and I can update them at any time.  The camera on my phone isn't brilliant (hubby as the new iPhone 4S and wont swap with me sniff sniff) but that's okay - any photo is better than no photo at all.

I have a 'printing' folder on the computer so every day when I charge the phone I have the opportunity to upload the photos, edit them and pop them in the printing folder.  Then once a month I plan to print them off.

I've also been writing the little cards before printing the photos - that way I can decide whether to print a landscape or portrait photo to fit in the right space in the protector that I have chosen.  I want to get a bit more creative with it but for now I am happy.  It has given me the 'space' to be creative with my scrapbooking - which I am loving very much.

So there you have it ..... Project Life is amazing - I am really loving it.  What wouldn't you give for a snapshot of your life as a child growing up?   My kids are loving all the photos already and we are only 8 weeks in!

Til next time.

Sale-A-Bration Class

IMG_1157I had a great night helping some lovely ladies to create some cards using the Sale-a-Bration goodies - it was great fun and I think everyone had a great time.

This card was inspired by one I found on the net (if you know where let me know so I can leave the appropriate acknowledgement please) - I loved that it included all the ribbons, brads, papers and the lovely Outlined Ocassions set.

Sale-a-Bration will finish at the end of this month so if you are wishing to place an order please let me know - for every $100 spent you will receive a freebie from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue - or hold a workshop and receive even more freebies.

Happy stampin!

One On 1 Blog Hop - February Update

Collage1
Well this blog hop snuck up on me so I am a little less than prepared but these are some of my photos for the month.

With the word FOCUS these are some of the things I am trying very hard to keep in my sights this year:

  • Scrapbooking - I've completed 2 months of the Twelve course and already I am behind, but I am okay with this - I am loving the inspiration this course is bringing me and the new friendships I am forging.

  • Growing veggies - the summer patch hasn't been brilliant but I am learning and planning on the winter crops  - must make the patch 'Spencer' proof (my pooch who loves to eat tomatoes)!

  • I downloaded the Project 365 app to my phone and I am trying very hard to take a photo a day - it is helping with my Project Life album - which I must photograph and show you sometime soon.

  • Whilst Duken may not be for me (great book), I am concentrating on a living a healthy life.

  • Little pots of goodness for the kids and I every day - encouraging healthy habits!

  • My computer at work shows me focusing on the job I need to do - I run a business for someone and I need to remain focused for this to be a success.

  • Water - I have to drink 2 litres every day!

I haven't achieved all of these tasks through February but I've had a very good go at them.

March brings newness, clean slates and a determined FOCUSed mind.

Time to hop along to visit Devon for an update on her OLW journey.  Thanks for visiting this month and I hope to be able to show you some completed pages next month.
