More Spotlighting

IMG_2427
Another sample from the Spotlighting Technique class last month, this time using the new World's Greatest stamp from the World Spectacular Product Suite.  Stamped twice in both Basic Black and Night of Navy - this time we just punched the circle and used Dimensions to 'pop' it up on the card.

The embossing on the Whisper White is a new folder - it's in the Holiday Traditions catalogue and is called Woodgrain - it gives a really deep impression to the cardstock.

Now I have a funny story about this card.  I made this card at the request of my class ladies - they all wanted a Father's Day card.  As my dear Dad passed away a few years ago, this is the first Father's Day I've made in a long long time.  I thought I'd put it to good use and offered it to my two teenage kids to give to Paul for Father's Day.  You know what teenagers are like .... they were only too keen to take the card - it meant their crafty mum wasn't going to 'cajoule' them into making something the night before the special day.

Well they gave the card to Paul, and when he opened it, it was blank inside.  When he asked why there was nothing written inside, KP replied .... 'oh mum said she made the card for us to give to you - I didn't think we had to write in it as well as seal the envelope' ..... got to love teenagers yes!  Needless to say KP wrote some lovely things inside and Paul took it back to Sydney with him - he has a little display of cards in his apartment now.

Birthday Bunting

IMG_2428
Isn't bunting lovely?  I love it.  I made this card for my niece who celebrated her birthday recently.  Its a really simple card to make, using the Top Note die, the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and the Pennant Punch.

The stripey paper is part of the new Storytime pack and I used a piece of Bakers Twine to hang the pennants from.  The sentiment has been coloured in using markers - its from the Bring On The Cake set.  I thought the card was missing 'a little something' - so I added a little heart punched with the Small Heart punch and covered it with Crystal Effects.

Voila all done!

Happy Stampin'

Spotlighting Technique

Last month's classes were focused on the Spotlighting Technique.  This is such a simple but effective way to make cards.

IMG_0777
I've used the Beautiful Season set - one of my favourites.  You stamp the image twice, then colour one of the images before punching a circle to highlight just one area.  I used the 1 1/4" circle and then matted it with a 1 3/8" circle.  You then position this back over the other stamped image - I used dimensions to 'pop' it up a little bit.

I coloured the bird using some Markers and the Blender Pen.  The Blender pen is great because the colour 'runs out' giving you that lovely shading effect with minimal effort :)

The greeting is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments - there are two Real Red brads up on the top left and I've covered the join where the embossing ends on the background card with a strip of Glimmer paper.

If you'd love to learn some new techniques, I hold classes at my house twice a month on a Thursday night.  There are a couple of seats available in both - all the details of the classes are here.

I'll be adding a couple of Saturday afternoon classes during November so keep an eye out for the details or subscribe to my newsletter to keep up to date with all that's happening.  There's a sign up box on the right hand side of the page.

Just call or email to book your seat - the ladies are friendly and new members are made to feel very welcome.

ESAD Blog Hop For The Holiday Traditions Catalogue

295192_457886387567998_1862492254_n
Back again for another blog hop, this time the ESAD Holiday Traditions Catalogue Hop.

So are you wondering what ESAD is?

ESAD stands for "Extra Special Australasian Demonstrators" and it is an on-line group just for Australian and New Zealand Stampin" Up! demonstrators.

We so love what we do and not only do we love to share it with our customers, friends, and wonderful blog visitors, but we share our love for what we do with each other as demonstrators. We run swaps, challenges, tutorials, product know-how, and cyberstamps, and we are always there to help and support each other when it is needed.

So if you are a Stampin' Up! demonstrator located in Australia or New Zealand, then please feel free to click here to join our wonderful group.

So what have I created for you today?

IMG_2468
Lots of new catalogue products for you.  Have you noticed that there are a few 'bundles' of products in the new catalogue now?  The new Scentsational Season stamp set is so cute and the bundle of framelits and stamps means you save over $10 on the clear mount option and more if you prefer to use wood.

I used the framelit to cut the shape from a piece of the new Core'dinations card stock - in the Gumball Green In-Colour.  I ran this through the Vintage Embossing folder and then used a sanding block to remove some of the colour to show the monochromatic colour inside - you can tear or distress this card in many ways to reveal the colours.

IMG_2467
I stamped and embossed the little gingerbread man onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and then placed this underneath the Gumball Green piece.  The sentiment stamp - Heart of Christmas - a gift from the recent HeartFelt event, is a perfect greeting I think.

IMG_2469
For this one I've used a piece of the Snow Festival Designer Series Paper behind the Christmas Tree cut out and then added Rhinestones to the paper to add a bit of sparkle.

I also added rhinestones to the bakers twine - this time I have used two of the larger ones at the end of the twine to so they look like little beads.

Well that's all from me .... time to hop along and visit the lovely Andrea Buckland - hope to see you again some time.

Another New Catalogue Blog Hop

Yes its time for more inspiration from the new catalogue. When I saw this stamp set I went straight to the top of the NEED list - Serene Silhouettes.

IMG_2473

Now are you wondering how I created the background? Well I've used the markers and one of my clear mount blocks. I've just scribbled onto the block with the marker, then placed a piece of Whisper White cardstock over the top and smoothed it to make sure all the colour left the block and was absorbed into the card.

IMG_2471

This sample is Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade - a colour combo from the Colour Coach tool.

IMG_2472

And this sample is Lucky Limeade, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise and Real Red. I spent ages trying to work out what to do with this card as the centre piece was too small to be left by itself - I love the scored lines - in this case they filled the empty space perfectly and added just a little something extra to the card - love the Simply Scored Tool.

Do you spy something that isn't in the new catalogue? Yes the Ribbon Sliders are actually in the new Holiday Traditions catalogue - sorry I was creating cards for another blog hop tomorrow and just thought they would be perfect, it wasn't until I took the photos that I realised what I had done - oops!

Right time to hop along to visit the lovely Margaret Knoops - can't wait to see what she has created.

So without further ado, here's my sample to share with you.

IMG_2385

This card was made using the new Life Shared stamp set - isn't it cute?  I've used watercolouring crayons and a blender pen to colour in the image - which has been stamped onto watercolouring paper.

The score lines have been added using the Simply Scored tool and the ribbon detail is the new 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain ribbon in Wild Wasabi.  There are two pieces - one is attached to the  watercoloured piece and the other is just wrapped around this piece several times.  I adhered it here and there with a few glue dots.

Its time to move on now to the next ESAD lady Andrea Buckland - Andrea has a beautiful blog creates the most stunning cards.

Thanks for visiting and drop by again sometime.

All You Need To Know About Stamps!

As I was looking at the videos from Stampin' Up! I found this one - its an old video and features a few retired stamp sets, but it shows some great tips.  Great if you are new to Stampin' Up! and are seeking information following the frenzied launch of our new catalogues this week.  Its a promotional video for demonstrators but it's very informative - I think you will agree.

If you really must have one of those stamp sets give me a shout as I might be able to help you out.

Happy Stampin'
